Bharatnataym is an ancient Indian classical dance which originated in South India around the 2nd century B.C as a form of worshiping gods in Hindu temples. At present it is gaining vast popularity all around the world due to its main features which are: the execution of intricate rhythmic patterns in foot movements, variety of hand gestures and associated meanings, sculpturesque poses and expressive eye movements. The unique specialty of this Indian Classical Dance is that it combines three aspects: Music, Drama and Dance, and an experienced dancer should be well versed in all three in order to create aesthetic pleasure for the audience. The course will help students to: achieve good posture, increase stretching ability, improve sense of rhythm, increase stamina, gain knowledge of a new art form and... have the pleasure of creating beauty! She has also acquired a diploma in Nattuvangam (rhythmic dance accompaniment) from Kalapeetam music school (Chennai, India). Oxana has performed and taught this dance form in India, Kazakhstan, and Armenia, and is presently spreading this beautiful art form in Hong Kong. |
Oxana is a Bharatnatyam
performer, teacher and choreographer from Kazakhstan. She is a scholarship
recipient of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and holder of a
four-year diploma in Bharatnatyam Classical Dance from the world famous
Kalakshetra College of Fine Arts (Chennai, India).
